Every She-Hulk Episode Will Have An End-Credits Scene

Every single episode of She-Hulk: Attorney at Law will have an end-credits scene. The legal action-comedy centers on Jennifer Walters (Tatiana Maslany), a lawyer who has been hired to defend beings with supernatural powers. Following a car accident caused by the appearance of a mysterious spaceship, Walters is accidentally infected with Bruce Banner’s (Mark Ruffalo) blood, causing her to transform into the She-Hulk, a 6’7″ tall green version of herself that has inherited the Hulk’s powers.

Since the inception of the MCU, scenes featured either within or after the credits have been a staple of the franchise. The very first film of the shared superhero universe, Iron Man, featured a post-credits scene that introduced Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and teased the formation of the Avengers. Every film since Iron Man features an end-credits scene with the exception of Avengers: Endgame, a film that ended the first major story arc of the MCU. With the MCU coming to television on Disney+, the franchise has also toyed with mid or end-credit scenes for their new shows, however, their usage has not been consistent throughout each series.

Now, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law showrunner and head writer, Jessica Gao, recently shared that every episode of the latest MCU series will feature an end-credits scene. When asked by Collider why she included end-credits scenes into every episode, Gao explained that she always had an affinity for such scenes, not only in Marvel films but in other films that have used them as well. She called them a “treat” and a “fun bonus” that rewards moviegoers for their “patience.” Read what Gao said about end-credits scenes below.

“I love end-credit scenes. I love staying in the theater and waiting for the end credit scenes for all Marvel movies. I love end-credit scenes that aren’t in Marvel movies. I love end-credit scenes in any movie. It just always feels like an extra special little treat. It feels like a little reward for your patience. It’s always a fun bonus. So, it was always just a part of it. I always wanted end credit scenes. And for comedy writers, if you tell them they get to write more jokes, they’re gonna write more jokes.”

Based on Gao’s comments, it’s possible future She-Hulk post-credits scenes will be for comedic purposes, delivering one final laugh for the audience. Viewers got a taste of that approach in the much-talked-about She-Hulk episode 1 stinger, which revealed Steve Rogers’ virginity status in hilarious fashion. One of the reasons that scene was so notable is it served as the final punchline for a humorous thread introduced earlier in the episode. Perhaps upcoming She-Hulk stingers will follow a similar formula, building off a joke or story beat that had been set up. That would be a fun way to go about it, allowing the talented She-Hulk cast to showcase their comedy chops.

Of course, Marvel is also renowned for using post-credits scenes to set up future developments in the franchise. Another route for She-Hulk stingers to go is leave audiences on a cliffhanger hinting at what’s to come. The show is set to have various connections to the larger MCU, including the appearance of Daredevil. Leaving viewers with a tease of Matt Murdock or another Marvel character would be a great way to generate buzz for She-Hulk and get audiences hyped for the next episode. It’s safe to say She-Hulk delivered one of the most memorable MCU post-credits scenes in recent memory, so hopefully the others can follow suit.
